The match ups and data you see below were pulled Friday morning. The data is for the 2015 season. Please be aware the match ups are subject to change. If you have any questions about the rankings hit me up Twitter @MattCommins
These are rankings for the entire week so I give the edge to a lot of fantasy pitchers who pitch twice. Also, the rankings are based on traditional 5×5 categories. I also provide write-ups for a few pitchers. My hope is after you read them you have a better understanding of why I ranked them.
This article is a little outdated because A.J. Burnett landed on the DL, but either way I was recommending benching him before he landed on the DL.
In the last month Scott Kazmir, not Zack Greinke, has the lowest ERA among all starting pitchers. This week he faces the Rangers who have the fifth lowest hard hit rate since June 1. I expect Kazmir to continue to do well.
Of all the starting pitchers traded at the deadline I bet Mike Leake has the most real life and fantasy value moving forward. His overall numbers have been weighted down because of the Reds home ballpark and the bad defenses he’s pitched in front of. The Giants have a really good defensive team and the ballpark will suit his skill set much better.
I may be way too high on Kevin Gausman, but I’ve said for a year his raw stuff is so good he ranks in the top 10-15 of all the starting pitchers in baseball. For the year the Angels have been a very bad offense against rigthies, but they added David Murphy and David DeJesus. The’yre both number six hitters (against righties) on good teams.
