Greg Holland looked great in both of his save opportunities yesterday. Kelvin Herrera appears to be extremely homer prone this season. Holland’s job appears to be safe moving forward for at least the next two, three weeks. If I’m handcuffing Holland I want Aaron Crow. Homer prone relievers have an extremely hard time getting save opportunities because managers don’t use them out of fear of blowing the game.
Mike Trout got two steals yesterday. For the year he’s batting .307 with two home runs and three stolen bases. Fantasy owners need not worry.
With comments such as “I’m dying,” and “It’s hurting real bad” from Albert Pujols doesn’t make fantasy owners feel good about the first round pick they used to get him. I’m not a Pujols guy, but if you own him you have to keep him because his trade value is at its lowest right now.
Ryan Haningan was placed on the DL, leaving the full time catching duties to Devin Mesoraco. I’m extremely happy that Mesoraco will finally get an opportunity a shot to play every day. In my NFBC Leagues I bid on him, which was uncontested, and got him for $3 in each league. I ended dropping Rob Brantly in both leagues. He maybe has 30% chance to keep the starting job when Hanigan comes back, but if he does, Mesoraco has the potential to hit .280 with 20 home runs if he played a full year.
Jim Henderson has looked great this year. I bet he holds down the job the entire year.
I picked up Carlos Marmol for $1 and I’m starting him this week because I bet he’ll get the save opportunities this week. He’s hasn’t allowed a run in his last five outings and in his last appearance he pitched the ninth inning with a four run lead.
